“ This was the first time I had ever used a compression sleeve so had nothing to compare it with but....it seems to have helped with the swelling in my arm and hand. (I have some temporary edema, caused by a blood clot in my shoulder). I got the model with the "gauntlet" feature covering part of the hand and the first couple of days it seemed to make my fingers swell up even more. I took it off and after allowing the swelling in the fingers to go down, I continued using it and now it doesn't seem to be making my fingers swell like at first. However, these are excellent for keeping my swelling in check and I can't imagine being without these stockings. I wish the heavy duty stockings were cheaper - LP's pricing is good, the discounts they offer are worth jumping on in order to have a few extra in the drawer rather than cycle them through the wash to the legs and back to the wash.
